Job Description

Job Title: Nuclear Electrical Engineering Technologist

Location: Los Alamos, NM

What You Will Do:

As a Nuclear Electrical Engineering Technologist, you will be instrumental in maintaining and supporting the electrical systems of programmatic equipment and glovebox support systems. You will work collaboratively under the guidance of senior team members, following approved integrated work documents (IWD) specific to each task and location.

  • You will engage in routine electrical maintenance tasks, supporting the team in troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing equipment as needed. This role will enhance your knowledge and skills through hands-on experience in a high-stakes environment.

What You Need:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Basic experience in performing maintenance on electrical systems, including PLCs, SCADA, instrumentation, and capacitor discharge.
  • Fundamental knowledge of electrical engineering work planning and control methods.
  • Ability to work safely with radioactive and hazardous materials.
  • Capacity to follow detailed directions from senior technicians and execute work to established procedures.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology, Science, Mathematics, or a related field from an accredited institution and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Please note that a high school diploma is required as per DOE 426.2.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with diagnostic test equipment and measuring devices (e.g., multimeters, signal generators, oscilloscopes).
  • Capability to develop solutions to routine and complex technical problems.
  • Commitment to maintaining precise maintenance and repair logs.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively to support the safety, security, and reliability of equipment.
  • Experience monitoring equipment efficiencies.
  • Certification as a Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) and Electrical Safety Officer (ESO) is highly regarded.
  • Current Q-Clearance is required. Human Reliability Program (HRP) eligibility is advantageous.
